A homopolar HVDC link uses two or more conductors of the same polarity, usually negative with respect to earth, operating in parallel with ground return. This lowers conductor insulation stress to ground and provides some operational flexibility. The configuration described in option D is correct.

Homopolar = same polarity conductors.
Do not confuse homopolar with a bipolar link, which uses opposite polarities.
