A power MOSFET includes an intrinsic body diode connected anti-parallel to its controlled channel. The channel carries controlled current in its normal direction, while the body diode provides a reverse-current path; therefore the device structure can handle current in both directions, although controlled blocking/conduction capability is not symmetrical.

Remember: MOSFET body diode provides the reverse-current path.
Do not interpret “bidirectional current path” as bidirectional voltage-blocking capability.
Remember: MOSFET body diode provides the reverse-current path.
