D — High permeability. A high-permeability core provides a low-reluctance path and establishes the required flux with comparatively little magnetizing current.
High μ → low magnetizing current.
A high hysteresis loss is undesirable. B low silicon content is not the desired design direction because silicon is used to improve magnetic/electrical loss properties. C low retentivity can be a desirable soft-magnetic property, making it a plausible distractor rather than a clearly wrong statement. D is the source-keyed and strongest canonical choice.
